青春雖小而盈彩,經典沉釀而厚滿
2021關渡藝術節迎來極具意義【關渡30】,「出蘆入關」30週年標示著時代性的新契機和方向。舞蹈學院重頭節目2021歲末展演《小滿》,歷經疫情的考驗與等待,由5月演出延宕再出發,静蓄待奔騰,小歇逐圓滿,釀製更加淬鍊的舞蹈饗宴。
藝術總監吳易珊策劃,新創到經典、芭蕾至當代,四首舞作風情迥異。媒合實踐大學服裝設計學系覃康寧老師,帶領24位服裝整合設計課大四學生,偕同北藝大音樂學院鋼琴組教授黎國媛,指導兩位博士班青年鋼琴家劉姿鳳與歐逸芹於現場演奏。期由不同跨度和聯動,展現北藝大舞蹈學院跨校跨院合作的展演能量。
《Transient Pleasures 轉瞬即逝的歡樂》為ADT (澳洲國家舞蹈劇場) 前藝術總監李華倫(Leigh Warren)一九九0經典舞作,澳洲舞評描述此作充滿視覺感官與情感的流動,由蔣秋娥為貫五(大二) 學生重建,以蕭邦音樂入舞,幻化每個歡愉轉角的浪漫和力量。
系主任張曉雄如詩如泣的舞作《哀歌》,從歷史到現實,書寫曾經顛沛的生命歷程,映照至今從未停止的戰爭苦難,「蒼山如畫、歲月如歌」,在波蘭作曲家亨利克・葛瑞茲基第三號交響曲《悲歌》的流瀉下,帶給貫六(大三)的學生深刻的生命洗禮。
馳名國際的藏族編舞家桑吉加《火柴人》作品,2013年以令人血脈噴張的冷冽調性驚艷台灣許多觀眾,此次由王元俐為貫七(大四)學生重建,長桌連結生活、記憶和曾經的一切,以孩提時舞蹈筆記的符號,挹注溫度轉入3D維度,找到身體意象最不可能的可能。
七年一貫制首屆畢業生、前美國比爾提.瓊斯(Bill T. Jones)舞團資深舞者劉奕伶,為研究生量身打造《13+1》新作,從韓式綜藝入手,在遊戲中尋找荒誕和人性的交錯,以機敏、靈巧、歡快的舞步, 回應群體與個人之間暗湧的角力、權利的流轉、微妙的聚散、升降的溫度,幽默趣味中,藏了一聲嘆息。
Though the spring is little, it is lush;
as classics age, they are enriched.
As the 2021 Kuandu Arts Festival welcomes “Guandu 30”, an occasion of great significance, the 30th anniversary of "Out of Luzhou, Into Guandu” represents an epochal opportunity and a new direction. TNUA School of Dance’s seminal 2021 Year-End Recital “Minor Crescendo”, having patiently undergone the tribulations of the pandemic, sets off from its delayed original May premiere once again. Biding its time in anticipation for a great leap, a small respite brings forth completion, fermenting out an even more refined and sumptuous dance.
Curated by Artistic Director Wu Yi-shan, this program brings four works of great individual character from avant-garde to classical, ballet to contemporary. Chin Kang-ning, Shih Chien University’s Department of Fashion Design, led 24 graduating students from the comprehensive fashion design course to contribute. Further, Li Kuo-yuan at the TNUA School of Music, a renowned Taiwanese pianist, as well as two doctoral students, Liu Tze-fung and Ou Yi-chin, perform live. Through different wavelengths and collaborative opportunities, this work presents the performative power of the School of Dance in cross-institution and cross-school collaboration.
“Transient Pleasures” is a classic 1990 work by Leigh Warren, past Artistic Director of the Australian Dance Theatre. Australian dance critics described this work as full of visual and sensuous affective flows. Here reconstructed by Chiang Chiu-o upon the second-year students (fifth year in the seven-year program), and led by the music of Chopin, each joyful turn of romance and power becomes a fantasy.
“Requiem”, by Zhang Xiao-xiong, Chairman of the School of Dance, brings us from history to present realities, recounting a once heart-rending life journey, and reflecting the struggles of war that have not since ceased. “The mountains are as paintings, the days and months as songs”; under the pouring-out of Polish composer Henryk Górecki’s Symphony No. 3 “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs", the third-year students (sixth-year of seven) are given the baptism of life.
Internationally-renowned Tibetan choreographer Sang Jijia’s “Sticks”, first shocked many Taiwanese audiences in 2013 through its blood-pumping coolness. This time, it is reconstructed by Wang Yuan-li on the fourth-year students (seventh-year of seven). The long table connects life, memories, and all that is past. Through the dance notation signs of childhood, we add warmth to three dimensions, seeking out the impossible possibilities of bodily representations.
Liu Yi-ling, from the first graduating class of the seven-year program and an experienced dancer formerly with the Bill T. Jones Company, has tailor-made “13+1” for the graduate students, finding an entry point in Korean variety shows, and finding the intersection between absurdity and humanity within the game. Through acute, nimble, and joyful steps, she responds to the undertow of struggle between collective and individual, the flows of power, uncanny gatherings and separations, the rise and fall of temperatures. Within humor and zest, a sigh is hidden.

TNUA School of Dance
Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA, formerly known as National Institute of the Arts before 2001)

in 1982. Since the establishment of the School of Dance in 1983, a world-class faculty of choreographers,
performers,
and scholars has led the BFA, MA/MFA, and Ph.D. programs and developed dance artists, educators, writers,
